CII Young Indians Launch Water Conservation Campaign in Schools
The CII Young Indians have launched the Jal Yodha programme, aiming to educate school children on water conservation, grooming them to become proactive environmental stewards in their communities.
JAMSHEDPUR – In an innovative approach to water conservation, the Jal Yodha programme by CII Young Indians is engaging school students as champions of sustainable water use, starting with an enlightening session at Jamshedpur High School.
The initiative seeks to make students aware of the critical role they play in conserving water amid changing weather patterns and the threat of drought, emphasizing practical steps to reduce water consumption.
Children participating in the programme are being taught about the water cycle, their own water footprint, and are encouraged to adopt measures like rainwater harvesting and efficient wastewater management in their daily lives.
A unique feature of Jal Yodha is the “water Warrior Report Card,” which challenges students to monitor and report on water usage and conservation efforts, fostering a sense of responsibility and active engagement in environmental preservation.
Recognition is given to students who excel in their conservation efforts, with those scoring above 70 marks celebrated as water warriors, while encouraging continuous improvement among all participants.
