Young Indians (YI) has introduced the Young Indian Parliament (YIP), a novel platform for school students to engage in parliamentary processes.

JAMSHEDPUR – Young Indians (YI) has introduced the Young Indian Parliament (YIP), a novel platform for school students to engage in parliamentary processes.

YIP aims to familiarize students with the intricacies of parliamentary democracy through innovative and practical experiences.

The initiative targets students from classes 9 to 12, providing a forum to express their views and participate in debates and decision-making that mimic real-life parliamentary sessions.

YIP will be organized in two stages: a regional round in August and national finals in New Delhi in November.

The regional competitions will be held in Raipur and Kolkata, with participation from 250 students from nine cities in eastern India.

Outstanding participants from the regional rounds will progress to the National Youth Parliament, representing their schools and cities.

Schools interested in participating must register on the Young Indian Parliament webpage by April 15, 2024.

Registered students will compete by creating a Campaign Pitch, with the most compelling pitches moving on to the regional rounds.

Participating in YIP is expected to enrich the students’ academic experience and develop skills crucial for their future careers.

Neha Agrawal, Co-Chair of Thalir at Young Indians, emphasized the initiative’s role in developing critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills among youth.
