Series of Thefts Plague Seraikela District

Recent spree of robberies raises concerns over police effectiveness in Adityapur and adjoining areas.

Adityapur and adjoining areas witness a theft spree, with the latest incident involving the theft of liquor and cash totaling Rs 2 lakh 14 thousand 620 from a government liquor shop in Kandra.

ADITYAPUR – Thieves are overactive in different areas of Adityapur as well as adjoining localities these days.

The series of thefts began on March 2, with crores worth of cash and jewelry stolen from RIT’s Arth Apartment, and continued with a significant mobile theft on March 9 at Dey Electronics and Furniture shop in Seraikela, with both cases remaining unsolved.

The theft at the government liquor shop in Kandra, carried out by breaking the lock of the shutter, represents a bold challenge to the police by the thieves, intensifying scrutiny of the police department’s response to the escalating criminal activity.

The Excise Department and Kandra police, having been alerted to the theft, are conducting an investigation, with the department taking stock of the shop and filing a police complaint.

Amidst growing concern, the police’s current efforts to investigate the thefts are being closely watched, especially given the recent activities of a thief gang targeting residential and commercial sites in Kandra, undeterred by police knowledge.

The pattern of thefts across different police station areas within a month calls into question the effectiveness of the police force at the ground level in Seraikela district, as local authorities struggle to address and curb the rising criminal actions.
