Trade Unions, Farmer Supporters Protest Against Central Policies in Jamshedpur

Nationwide Strike Sees Protest in Jamshedpur, Uniting Trade Unions and Farmers Against Government Policies

Massive industrial strike and rural bandh observed in Jamshedpur in protest against rising inflation, unemployment, and government policies favoring the rich.

JAMSHEDPUR – The city of Jamshedpur witnessed some mobilization on Friday as various trade unions and the United Kisan Morcha joined forces in response to a nationwide call for an industrial strike and rural bandh.

This unified protest was aimed at addressing 21 key demands, reflecting widespread discontent with the central government’s policies.

The strike did not have wide impact, but brought together all trade unions and the United Kisan Morcha, underscored the collective frustration against what is perceived as the central government’s pro-rich stance, including issues like inflation, unemployment, law violations, and reduction in social security benefits.

Inter State President Rakesheshwar Pandey voiced concerns over the distress faced by different sections of society due to the government’s repressive measures, highlighting the persistent struggle of workers and farmers against these policies.

Ambuj Thakur, the State Secretary of the Communist Party of India, criticized the government for exploiting workers and the poor, alleging that national assets are being sold to capitalists at minimal prices, and labor laws are being altered to the detriment of workers across all sectors.

The strike’s call also resonated with labor leader Vishwajit Roy, who condemned the BJP-led central government’s indifference towards the poor, emphasizing the need for unified action against policies that threaten economic freedom and the rights of various communities.

This demonstration in Jamshedpur is part of a broader movement that challenges the current administration’s approach to governance, signaling a growing discontent that could have significant implications in the days ahead.
