Dakshineswar Kali Temple Celebrates Idol Installation with Kalash Yatra

The Dakshineswar Sarvajanik Kali Puja Samiti in Jamshedpur organized a vibrant Kalash Yatra, marking the installation of Maa Kali’s idol in the newly constructed temple.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Dakshineswar Sarvajanik Kali Puja Samiti of East Plant Basti, Burmamines, organized a grand Kalash Yatra on Wednesday, showcasing the city’s rich cultural heritage.

Hundreds of women participated in the procession, which started from the Kali temple in East Plant Basti, journeying to Domuhani via Sakchi before returning to the temple.

The Yatra involved filling water in the Kalash at Domuhani and concluded with the Kalash’s return to the temple.

This event marked the beginning of the idol installation and life consecration ritual for Maa Kali in the newly built temple, continuing into the late evening.

Galwinder Singh Gwale, the temple president, announced a two-day long consecration ritual, with the installation and consecration on January 17 and Purnahuti and Maha Prasad scheduled for January 18.

The idol of Maa Kali, sourced from Jaipur, is set to undergo the Pran Pratistha ritual by Pandit Prashanto Goswami and his colleagues.

The temple’s rich history, dating back to 1936 when the ancestors started the worship of Maa Kali, has been a cornerstone of the community’s religious practices.

Regular worship with proper rituals has been ongoing since 1990, with the temple construction being a community effort over the past 10 years.

Key community members like Uma Shankar Bera, Arun Prasad, and Harishchandra Prasad were in attendance, highlighting the event’s significance in Jamshedpur.
