Tata Steel Marks India’s 77th Independence Day with Nationwide Celebrations

Tata Steel celebrates 77th Independence Day across all sites, reflecting India’s success since 1947.

JAMSHEDPUR – Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, initiated the festivities by raising the national flag at the Tata Steel Works’ main gate in Jamshedpur.

The event celebrated India’s remarkable success since gaining independence from British rule in 1947, with Tata Steel reflecting the theme "Nation First, Always First," marking 76 years of India’s freedom while expressing Tata Steel’s unwavering commitment to the country’s growth and development.

General Manager of the Jharia Division Sanjay Rajoria was the chief guest at the flag-raising ceremony in the General Manager’s Office in Jamadoba (Jharia) for the Raw Material sites.

West Bokaro and Noamundi both had flag-raising ceremonies.

Other Tata Steel facilities in Jamshedpur, including the Sports Department, Security Department, and Tata Main Hospital (TMH), conducted flag-raising ceremonies.

Over 32 major airports and all the nation’s metro train networks use Tata Steel’s materials, thanks to the Company’s collaboration with the Government on key infrastructure projects.

Over the last 76 years, Tata Steel has constructed two-thirds of the nation’s flyovers and bridges, including pioneering structures like the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai, the Bogibeel Bridge in Assam, the longest railroad bridge in the world, and the Kanaka Durga in Andhra Pradesh.

Tata Steel is committed to fostering a culture of growth, inclusiveness, and enabling equal opportunity for its employees, and is also dedicated to nation-building and community development.

In his remarks, Chanakya Chaudhary highlighted the company’s efforts in promoting a circular economy, safety awareness across all levels of the workforce, and the enterprise’s commitment to technological innovation that fosters national progress.

Chanakya noted the importance of being part of an organization like Tata Steel, which has significantly shaped India’s industrial landscape and played a vital role in the nation’s post-independence economic story, making contributions to infrastructure, job creation, technological advancement, and overall societal upliftment.
