Tata Motors Workers’ Union commemorates labour leader Michael John’s 46th death anniversary, pledges to continue his fight for workers’ rights.
JAMSHEDPUR – Members of the Tata Motors Workers’ Union (TMWU) commemorated the 46th death anniversary of labour activist Michael John on Thursday.
Present at the event, including President Gurmeet Singh and other committee members, pledged to carry forward Michael John’s legacy by championing workers’ rights.
Michael John had made significant strides in the labour movement, as noted by TMWU General Secretary RK Singh.
John, who was never hesitant in advocating for labourers’ rights, had earned management’s respect through his constant struggle.
His work with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in the fight for the working class’s rights was a testament to his dedication.
Notably, John was also an active participant in the "Quit India" movement.
From 1948 to 1960, he served as the president of the Bihar Pradesh INTUC.
In his memory, the union members and people paid tribute by decorating his grave with flowers and lighting candles.
Additionally, a ceremony was held at the union headquarters where flowers were placed in front of Michael John’s photograph, paying homage to his tireless efforts.
