Rising instances of theft at religious places in Jamshedpur; thieves target donation box and evade CCTV surveillance.
JAMSHEDPUR – Religious places in Jamshedpur have increasingly been targeted by thieves.
The criminals break open donation boxes kept in temples, stealing the money.
The latest case comes from the area under Sakchi police station.
Last night, thieves targeted the ancient Sheetla Mata temple, damaging the donation box and making off with the money inside.
The thieves, however, were careful to damage the CCTV cameras before committing the theft.
The police are currently investigating the case, making use of the footage from external CCTV cameras.
Upon receiving the information, the police promptly arrived at the scene to begin their investigation.
Manoj Bajpayee, the temple priest, informed that when they opened the temple this morning, the donation box was found broken, and the CCTV camera wires were damaged.
The police were immediately alerted and an investigation is underway.
