Tata Steel UISL to Spend Rs 300 Crore on Infrastructure Development in Jamshedpur

Tata Steel UISL MD Rituraj Sinha unveils a Rs 300 crore plan for infrastructure overhaul in Jamshedpur, focusing on electricity, water, roads, and sewerage.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a move that marks a significant boost for urban infrastructure, Tata Steel UISL has earmarked Rs 300 crore to overhaul civic amenities in Jamshedpur.

The action plan, laid out by the newly appointed Tata Steel UISL MD, Rituraj Sinha, encompasses major sectors such as electricity, water, roads, and sewerage treatment.

Major Upgrade in Electricity Infrastructure

Rituraj Sinha announced that about 3,000 new electrical connections will be given to households across various settlements.

In addition to these new connections, the capacity of multiple substations is being augmented, including the Golmuri substation and the Sakchi power substation.

Plans also include implementing solar rooftop facilities in various areas.

Water Supply and River Cleaning Initiative

Tata Steel UISL is improving water supply, and has already expanded the Birsanagar Moharda water supply scheme.

The company is working diligently to provide water to Jojobeda Basti, Babudih Basti, and is set to start water supply in Kadma Ramjanam Nagar, Makdamp Basti, and Domuhani area.

Road Construction and GIS Implementation

New roads are being built, including the stretch from Sakchi to Baridih.

Simultaneously, all city facilities are being connected with a Geographical Information System (GIS), allowing residents to access information about their city from home.

Sewerage Treatment and Waste Disposal

Sewerage treatment poses a significant challenge, and work is underway to establish small sewerage treatment plants in new areas.

Tata Steel UISL is also working towards efficient waste disposal, with new initiatives for garbage collection, sorting, and recycling into fertilizer.
