RANCHI – Jharkhand’s Health Minister, Banna Gupta, was honoured by the Union Health Minister, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, with the responsibility of presiding over a national health conference in Dehradun. The two-day event was a significant opportunity for Jharkhand to shine, and Minister Gupta reportedly performed his duties exceptionally well.
Expressing his pride on Twitter, Gupta announced that he had the privilege of overseeing the conference’s last day.
He expressed his gratitude towards the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for giving him, and consequently Jharkhand, the chance to preside over a national programme.
During the conference, Gupta suggested creating a unified action plan for the PC & PNDT Act and tuberculosis (TB) eradication.
He also advocated for a special grant to be allocated to Jharkhand and an increase in honoraria for the Sahiya sisters, and the establishment of modern and basic infrastructure.
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister, praised Jharkhand for setting an ambitious target to eradicate TB by December 2024.
This goal is ahead of the national aim to eliminate TB by 2025, and significantly earlier than the global target of 2030.
