Parsudih’s Haludbani perilous power supply situation demands immediate action, posing life threats.

JAMSHEDPUR – In the rural area of Parsudih Haludbani, Jamshedpur, an impending major accident is brewing due to electricity supply facilitated through bamboo poles.
The dire situation forces the residents to risk their lives daily when commuting to and from the area.
This grim circumstance has remained unchanged for the last decade, but no initiatives have been undertaken.

Parsudih’s Haludbani hosts numerous areas where electricity is supplied via electric poles up to the main road. But beyond the main road extending towards the township, the conditions are harrowing. A slight storm can easily plunge the entire area into darkness.
Danger Looming Around
Bamboo poles assisting the electric connections pose a massive threat. The hanging wires are severed at many places, posing a risk to humans and livestock alike. Sanjay Kumar Sharma, a local resident, states that hundreds of families live under the looming risk, their lives hanging in balance.
Sharma explains, “The wire is swinging on the way to and fro with the help of a bamboo stick, people move through this path, there are 10 joints in the swinging wire, which if it touches a person’s body, then the person can get electrocuted.”
Inaction Despite Regular Bill Payments
Local resident Aanchal Sharma warns people traveling the road to be vigilant to prevent accidental electrocution. Despite paying their electricity bills regularly, residents are appalled at the negligence of the authorities. Despite multiple pleas to the department and public representatives, their voices remain unheard for years.
Aanchal adds, “There is a need to raise the silence of the department or the people’s representatives for the last 10 years, raises questions on the working style of the department as well as the people’s representatives.”
Department Promises Remedial Action
Upon conversing with the Electrical Executive Engineer, Anand Kaushal, he mentioned a recent inspection revealed the impending accident-prone scenario. He reassures that within the next 10 days, the situation would be rectified and the department is on high alert to prevent any accidents.
The department’s promise to fix a decade-long issue in 10 days is a hopeful sign. However, the locals warn that if the situation doesn’t improve within the promised timeline, the department will bear the responsibility for any untoward incidents.
