Budheshwar Lohar, the man convicted in the murder of BJP leader Atmaram Mukhi, passed away while receiving treatment in MGM Hospital’s ICU.
JAMSHEDPUR – Budheshwar Lohar, a 50-year-old man from Seraikela, passed away on Friday while receiving treatment in MGM Hospital’s ICU.
Lohar had been serving a life sentence in Ghaghidih Jail for the murder of BJP leader Atmaram Mukhi from Noradih.
He had been incarcerated since 2007 and received his life sentence just seven months ago.
His health deteriorated while in jail on Thursday, leading to his transfer to MGM Hospital for medical attention.
The crime that led to his incarceration was the fatal shooting of Mukhi in 2007.
Lohar and his accomplice, Rahul Soren, targeted the BJP leader in his Noradih home.
The duo arrived at Mukhi’s residence at 5 a.m. on the day of the incident and shot him dead.
Lohar was not arrested until after the incident and spent 16 years in Ghaghidih Jail.
