Birsa Sena, on the occasion of Hool Day, renamed Baridih Chowk in Jamshedpur after Konka Kamar Karmali sparking off a controversy and now has sat on an indefinite hunger strike.
JAMSHEDPUR – In celebration of Hul Diwas, the Birsa Sena had rechristened Baridih Chowk in Jamshedpur after Konka Kamar Karmali, a local hero.
The event involved the creation of a stone cart at Baridih Golchakkar.
However, the newly installed stone sign, known as Pathalgadi, was removed and seized by the JNAC officer on July 1, leading to a confrontation with Birsa Sena’s Center President, Dinkar Kachhap, and his supporters.
The Birsa Sena have now announced that they would not end their hunger strike until the seized Pathalgadi is returned.
They warned of severe protests from July 4, involving members of the Birsa Sena and Chuwad Sena if the JNAC does not return the Pathalgadi within 48 hours.
The responsibility for any unrest, they claimed, would lie with the JNAC and district administration.
Currently, four members of the Birsa Sena are participating in the indefinite hunger strike, and all workers of the Sena are standing in solidarity with them.
Those on strike include Dinkar Kachhap, Balram Karmakar, Raja Ram Murmu, and Gurcharan Karmakar.
Support has come from various quarters, including BJP Schedule Tribe Morcha, Tribal Bhumij Chuad Sena, Joint Tribal Social Organization Chandil, and the Lohra Karmali Coordination Committee.
