An alleged Cybercriminal Vishal Pandey, accused of scamming famous doctors over fake seminars in Dubai, arrested by Noida Cyber Crime Police and remanded to Jamshedpur.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a major breakthrough, Vishal Pandey, a notorious cybercriminal, was arrested by Noida Cyber Crime Police on February 15th.
Pandey, who was apprehended from Kulti in West Bengal, is accused of orchestrating a multi-crore scam involving prominent doctors.
The accused managed to defraud doctors by promising to organize an international seminar in Dubai.
A doctor from TMH in Jamshedpur was among his victims, losing INR 1.81 lakh to Pandey’s scheme.
Remand and Interrogation
On Friday, Jamshedpur Cyber Police took Pandey into custody for further questioning. Following the interrogation, he was incarcerated.
Scope of Fraud
It is estimated that Pandey swindled over 18 high-profile doctors, causing losses amounting to 5 crore rupees. The fraud was conducted under the guise of organizing and attending seminars for doctors globally in Dubai.
Background of the Accused
Interestingly, Pandey held a legitimate position as Finance Controller Officer (FSO) in Glen Mark Company in 2017. However, the demonetization wave saw him lose his job.
Turn to Crime
After losing his job, Pandey engaged in exchanging black money for doctors. This experience led him to realize the financial capabilities of doctors, inspiring his fraudulent plot. Concealing his identity, Pandey executed a series of scams involving fake seminars and foreign tours starting December 2021.
