Bokaro City College Students Protest Due to Lack of Professors and Unavailable Course Materials

The main gate of B.S. City College was locked by students causing a ruckus over insufficient faculty and unavailable course materials for new subjects introduced in the education policy.

BOKARO – BS City College in Bokaro witnessed a heated protest by students Wednesday, leading to the locking of the college’s main gate and preventing anyone from entering the premises.

As the students’ outrage escalated, the police from Sector 6 police station arrived on the scene. However, the students stopped the police officers from entering the college as well.

The root of the commotion lies in students’ discontentment with the college and university. It is reported that the upheaval began when students were said to have failed in a single subject in the first semester.

Students argue that the college and university have introduced professional education subjects on their own, as part of the new education policy, including Major Hood, IBF translation topics, but there are neither professors available to teach these subjects in the college nor in the university.

Further, the students complained about the unavailability of notes and books for these subjects in the market. They argue that the university should have considered this aspect before introducing these subjects.

The students described this situation as a game being played with their futures, pointing out that this problem is not limited to BSC but extends to other colleges including Chas College.

Dr. Deepak Prakash Kunwar, the Principal of BS City College, when questioned about this issue, stated that they were not aware of how many students were involved or what the exact issues were, but acknowledged that the subjects being protested about have been included in the education policy.

He added that there are no professors available in the entire university to teach these new subjects.

He also pointed out that currently, the college does not even have professors for Maths and Chemistry, forcing them to bring in external faculty to teach these subjects to the students.
