JAMSHEDPUR – Sombari Sabar, a nine-year-old orphan from Darisai Sabar settlement of Ghatshila subdivision, was enrolled in class 1 at St. Joseph’s School, Golmuri, by none other than the Deputy Commissioner herself.

A New Chapter for Sombari

Sombari, whose parents died of TB in 2022, caught the attention of the Deputy Commissioner through news reports.

Initially, she was admitted to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential School under the Deputy Commissioner’s supervision.

But considering her potential for a better future, the Deputy Commissioner took the initiative to enroll Sombari in St. Joseph’s School.

A Symbol of Hope

On the occasion of the enrollment, the Deputy Commissioner offered Sombari clothes, study materials, toffees, sports items, and even shared mangoes from her residence with all the children at the Netaji Bose Residential School, Sombari’s previous institution.

A Guardian’s Love

The Deputy Commissioner, who acted as a guardian or mother to the young girl, has had a special fondness for Sombari, often meeting with her during various festivities, including Diwali and Chhath, or just to check on her well-being and progress in school.

As a parent would, she has consistently expressed concern for Sombari’s education and overall development.

As Sombari transitions to a new school, the Deputy Commissioner sent her off with best wishes for a bright future. She expressed her pride for Sombari and emphasized her hope that the young girl would make her district and her state proud one day.

She stated that Sombari is a sensitive child who should always be cared for and wished only happiness for her life.
