Thieves break into a Bank of India branch in Seraikela overnight, stealing an undisclosed amount of money. Investigation underway.

SERAIKELA – In a brazen act of audacity, thieves targeted a Bank of India branch located directly opposite the Kolabira OP on the Kandra-Seraikela main road on Monday night.

The robbers broke the lock of the grill in order to gain access to the bank.

Bank officials and Seraikela police were alerted to the incident in the morning.

Upon their arrival, they discovered that the thieves had reached the bank branch, located on the second floor, by utilizing a pipe to bypass the lower grill lock. The grill on the second floor had been forcibly broken open.

Bank official Sushmita Sahu stated that she was informed about the incident at around 4:30 am, after which she also alerted the bank manager.

The exact amount stolen and the total loss incurred by the bank is yet to be ascertained and will only be confirmed after a thorough examination by bank officials.

Since the news of the robbery spread, a significant crowd of local people has gathered at the scene, speculating about the extent of the damage. Reports suggest that the robbers had also locked the doors of nearby houses from the outside, adding a further layer of complexity to their audacious act.
