MLA Saryu Roy flays arrest of 8 VHP and Gau Raksha Andolan members

Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha leader says they had gone to SSP office to submit memorandum when police arrested them

Roy says he will launch legal and social battle to defend them, criticizes slapping of serious charges against the accused

Jamshedpur: The Former Minister, founder of Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha and Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has strongly condemned the arrest of eight youths associated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Gau Raksha Andolan by the Jamshedpur police in connection with the recent communal violence case of Kadma Shashtri Nagar.

According to Saryu Roy, the youths were wrongly implicated in the case and arrested without any evidence.

Roy said that they were arrested on Monday by the police in connection with the communal violence case of Kadma Shastri Nagar, while they had gone to submit a memorandum to the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police.

Saryu Roy said that it is surprising that one of the arrested youths was an advocate who had come straight from court to the SSP office, while another person had returned to Jamshedpur on Monday itself from his mother’s Shradh ceremony.

Despite not having visited Kadma even once for the last two days, the police considered them as accused and arrested them, which Roy called “completely wrong, illegitimate, ridiculous, and condemnable.

He said that serious sections, like 353, 153A, 120B, 295A, 307,147, 158,149, 332, 333, 337, 383, 427 and 27 Arms Act, 3/4 Explosives Act etc have been added to the FIR, but no weapons or explosives were recovered from them.

Saryu Roy in Jamshedpur court to see the 8 arrested VHP and Gau Raksha Andolan activisits.

Roy said that he has promised to the wrongfully arrested youths that society would fight their legal battle and he would extend full support.

He added that these arrests would not be allowed to go unchallenged, and a legal battle would be fought in their favor, and also a public campaign would be launched to make the people fear-free.

The arrest of these youths has raised concerns among the Hindu activists and leaders, with some criticizing the police for their repressive actions.
