Jamshedpur: The district administration and the JNAC team launched an anti-encroachment drive in Sakchi Kalimati Road area Saturday. Scores of roadside shops and illegal structures were removed during the drive.

The anti-encroachment drive caused a commotion among the roadside vendors and the vendors were seen removing their items on their own.

Most of the vendors were aware that in order to remove encroachments from the Sakchi Kalimati Road in Jamshedpur, the administration and the JNAi team would launch a drive.

Despite that the drive stirred up the local vendors, who scampered to remove their articles and fares..

Bulldozers were also used by the authorities to clear the encroachments, yet individuals were still seen taking down their illegal boards and roadside carts on their own.

As per the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav, Nisha Kumari was appointed as the Magistrate for the drive.

She was joined and assisted by the SDO Piyush Sinha, Dy SP Traffic Kamal Kishore, JNAC Special Officer Sanjay Kumar, City Manager Ravi Bharti, and other officials.

The drive started at the JNAC headquarters and went all the way to the NTTF roundabout before ending back at the JNAC headquarters.

The team cleared several planks, carts, kiosks and gumtis off the side of the road. All these had propped up with time on the roadside.

After seeing that the anti-encroachment drive has been launched with full gusto, the roadside vendors and shopkeepers decided to take action themselves and started removing encroachments, including used bikes parked on the side of the road by second-hand bike dealers..

The magistrate Nisha Kumari said that the removal of these encroachments was ordered by the Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav herself.

She said that the public had previously been informed via loudspeakers to remove the encroachments. However, not many had complied with the advice and this necessitated the drive, she added.
