Dead body of adolescent found in Kharkai river at Bagbera Baroda Ghat

Locals inform family and police after seeing body floating at river bank

Jamshedpur: The dead body of 15-year-old Rishi Kumar Gupta was found on the Kharkai river bank at Baroda Ghat under the jurisdiction of Bagbeda police station of Jamshedpur on Monday.

Rishi Gupta, a resident of Gemco, had come to Bagbera Baroda Ghat along with his mother during the Jitiya festival on Sunday and had drowned while taking a dip in the river. His body could not be found on Sunday despite a lot of efforts.

However, on Monday, the locals saw the dead body floating in river water on the banks.

On Sunday, 15-year-old Kishore Rishi Gupta, a resident of Gemco, reached Bagbera Baroda Ghat with his mother. There, while taking a bath in the river, he drowned in water.

After that nothing could be known of him.

The local police with the help of divers tried to find him till evening.

But the divers could not find the body.

Monday morning the local people saw the body floating on the bank of the river and informed the family members and the police.

The family reached the river bank and they identified their son.

At the same time, the police have taken the body in possession and sent it for post-mortem.

A Bagbera police officer said that the teenager, who had come to celebrate Jitiya festival with his mother, died due to drowning and on Monday his body was found floating on the banks of the Bagbera Baroda Ghat river.

It is learnt that a woman and another teenager had also drowned in the water at Bagbeda Baroda Ghat yesterday.

However, with the help of the local people, they were saved and taken out of the water.

The Bagbera Baroda River Ghat has become a completely dangerous area.

During the Jitiya festival, there is a lot of crowd at the river ghat.

But the local police or the administration have not taken any step to ensure safety of commoners at the river bank.
