The shopkeepers claim that the number of customers and footfall has suddenly gone down and some shops are not getting even a single customer.

Jamshedpur: The shopkeepers of Shalini Market and Sanjay Market are demanding a wider entry through the planned barricades and boundary being constructed in the wake of anti-encroachment drive in Sakchi.

They claimed that a boundary wall was constructed and pavers’ blocks were put overnight on the footpath. However, it is hurting their business as the customers are facing a lot of problems in entering the markets.

The shopkeepers claim that the number of customers and footfall has suddenly gone down and some shops are not getting even a single customer.

They demanded that the issue be resolved because it is impacting their business.

It may be recalled that an anti-encroachment drive was carried out recently in Sakchi on the road near Sakchi Shalini and Sanjay Markets in Jamshedpur. Encroachments were removed and pavements were constructed overnight on both sides.

After this, pavers blocks were laid down and the market was cordoned off.

However, the shopkeepers are now opposing JNAC initiatives.

According to the shopkeepers, customers are encountering problems due to the boundary wall. There has been an abrupt decline in customers, they claimed, and it has become difficult even to get a single customer.

The shopkeepers have requested the district administration to increase the entryway in the boundary.

They said that If the issue is not resolved by the JNAC, they will approach the Deputy Commissioner for a solution.
