Harassed woman reaches SSP office, seeks justice

A woman from Govindpur has accused her husband’s family of harassing and torturing her. On Wednesday, she reached SSP office with her 6-year-old child and sought justice.

Jamshedpur: A woman from Govindpur has sought help and justice from the district administration. She is wife of a teacher and is a victim of harassment by in-laws.

The woman reached the SSP office with her 6-year-old child and alleged that she is being tortured by her in-law’s family for dowry. She has sought help and justice from the SSP.

The tortured woman reached the SSP office with her 6-year-old child and pleaded with the district administration to intervene and ensure justice to her.

She told the SSP that after assaulting her, her in-laws family threw her out of the house.

She said that she was born and brought up in Buxar. She was married 7 years back with a teacher. Her father-in-law as well as mother-in-law too are teachers.

However, she alleged, her in-laws started torturing her soon after marriage seeking cash and bike as dowry.

She said that after a lot of harassment and physical assault, she was forced to go to her father’s house.

However, she said, her father died on April 29. As a result, she came back to her husband’s house. But, again her family started torturing her for dowry and bike.

She also alleged that her brother in law also exploited her sexually.

She said that she also lodged a complaint with Govindpur police station. However, she alleged, no action was taken against her in-laws.
