Dhanbad Pathardih OC suspended in Judge Uttam Anand death case

Dhanbad: Action has now started against police officials found negligent in discharge of duty in Dhanbad District Judge death case.

In the latest turn of events, the Dhanbad SSP Sanjeev Kumar has suspended Pathardih police station in-charge Umesh Manjhi for negligence in taking action.

According to information received, the auto rickshaw owner involved in the death of the ADJ used to live in Pathardih police station area and the driver and his associate are also residents of the same area.

The auto had hit DJ Uttam Anand on July 28. That auto was stolen on the night of July 27. An FIR was registered with Pathardih police station.

The SSP has concluded that action was not taken on time and has suspended the OC for negligence.

Earlier, the SIT team arrested the husband of the autorickshaw owner, who is a resident of Pathardih, from Pathardih forest late Saturday night.

The arrested person has a criminal antecedent and was has been involved in several cases earlier, including a case of robbery.

He had come to his house due to the police raids. On getting information about this, the police reached the site and caught him and took him to Sudamdih police station.

Police sources said that many cases of robbery and theft were registered against him in the 90s.

Along with this, the arrested auto owner has also been accused of illicit liquor trade and was sent to jail several times in the past.

The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognisance of the death of Dhanbad’s DJ Uttam Anand under suspicious circumstances.

A report has been sought from the Chief Secretary and DGP of Jharkhand in a week.

The Supreme Court Bar Association too had demanded a CBI inquiry.

Like every day, the deceased Judge had gone on a morning walk on Wednesday when he was hit by an auto rickshaw. He fell on the road. He died before he could be taken to hospital.

After this an SIT was constituted in this case.

Now CM Hemant Soren has recommended a CBI inquiry into the case.
