Heavy fines and prosecution for traffic rule violations now
Give tip-off on narcotics to police for quick action: Rajeev Ranjan
Jamshedpur:- The DIG of Kolhan Rajeev Ranjan Singh held a meeting on Wednesday at the district headquarters here to discuss ways to improve the traffic system in the city.
The meeting also took stock of and reviewed the changes brought in Motor Vehicle Act by the Jharkhand government.
Addressing the meet, the Kolhan DIG said that the state government has made changes in the MV Act.
Now, there is a provision of imposing heavy fines on those who violate the traffic rules.
He said that violating some rules can also lead to jail. He said that if any person drives a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, then action will be taken against him as per the rules.
He said that while the person would be arrested, the vehicle will be confiscated and a proposal to prosecute would be sent to the court. I
If any person is caught driving in a rash manner, he will also be sent to jail.
He said that the rules that may get someone to jail include violating the traffic signal, using mobile while driving, wrongly overtaking etc.
Apart from these, if any person is caught driving the vehicle without the permission of the vehicle owner, then also action will be taken against him.
He said that if any parent allows his or minor child to drive a vehicle, then a fine of Rs 25,000 will be imposed on such parents.
Action will be taken against the minor driving the vehicle and the owner of the vehicle too.
For this, an awareness campaign will be conducted for the next three days.
Kolhan DIG Rajiv Ranjan Singh appealed to the citizens to immediately inform the police on getting information about any suspicion about trade of illegal drugs and narcotics in East Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharsawan districts.
He said that both the districts have to be made drug free. For this, cooperation of common people is also expected.
He said that 26th June is International Anti-Drug Day. Starting that day a mega campaign against illegal trade of narcotics will be carried out for the next 15 days.
For this a task force will be formed under the leadership of ASP Kumar Gaurav. It will consist of 20 members.
This task force will conduct raids in the areas to stop narcotics.
In order to curb the consumption of narcotics, the general public who want to give information related to drugs to the police can send a video or photograph to the phone number 7091091825.
Their information will be kept secret and the informant will also be rewarded by the government, he said.
Through this campaign, the police will go to the root of drug dealers and eliminate them completely, he added.
He said that if people do not consume narcotics, there will be no sellers either.
He said that due to the demand for narcotics, people secretly sell it.
However, he said, now the police action will be intensified against those who carry out illegal narcotics business.
