Road blockade lifted on compensation assurance
Jamshedpur: The child, who was seriously injured after being hit by a speeding Scorpio near Marine Drive Ghoda Chowk Thursday last, has succumbed to his injuries during treatment in TMH.
Angry bustee residents blocked Marine Drive again for about 4 hours. The blockade was lifted after a lot of persuasion.
The administration has assured the family to pay Rs. 1.25 lakh as compensation.
As soon as the news of the demise of the injured child reached the bustee, a large number of locals gathered at Marine Drive.
Angered by the tragic death of the child injured in the accident, the locals burnt tyres on the road and blocked it.
The police had to try hard to keep order and persuade them to lift the blockade.
The bustee residents were demanding that the body of the child be handed over to the family members and quick action be taken against the driver of the Scorpio involved in the accident.
They also demanded adequate compensation to the family.

Seeing the possibility of the situation worsening, additional police forces were deployed.
The locals demonstrated by burning the effigy of the former CM Raghubar Das. They were insisting that compensation be paid to the family.
A long line of stranded vehicles were seen on both sides of the blockade.
Thousands of bustee residents took to streets and burnt the effigy of former CM Raghubar Das to express their anger.
Child’s mother was in a grief-stricken and shocked state.
The child was badly injured after being hit by a speeding Scorpio on Thursday last. The child was being treated in TMH.
The child had tested positive in TMH. As the child had tested positive, the administration was unwilling to hand over the body to the family for last rituals.
However, the locals were demanding that the body be handed over to the family.
A number of them were sitting in the middle of the road to lodge protest at the alleged highhandedness of the administration.
The locals claimed that a convoy of 10 vehicles was passing through Marine Drive when a Scorpio that was part of the convoy hit the child.

The Dy SP Kamal Kishore said that the Disaster Management will pay a compensation of Rs. 1 lakh to the family, while the district administration too will pay Rs. 25 thousand.
The road block was lifted after about 4 hours of blockade on the intervention of the representative of health minister and a member of Ajsu Party Munna Singh and district administration.
It was agreed that the family would be paid Rs. 20 thousand on behalf of the Health Minister, while Munna Singh too said that he would pay Rs. 5 thousand to the family.
This would be over and above Rs. 1 lakh to be paid on behalf of Disaster Management department and Rs. 25 thousand on behalf of the district administration.
The Dy SP Kamal Kishore, Kadma officer in charge Manoj Thakur, JNAC Special Officer Krishna Kumar were present on the site of blockade.
