State Govt Fails to Persuade Private Schools to Waive Off Tuition Fee for Lockdown Period

Ranchi: The state government has failed in persuading the private schools to waive off tuition fee for the lockdown period. The private schools have now got the go ahead to collect tuition fee for the lockdown period. However, they will not be able to collect any other fee or charges for the lockdown period.

A decision to this effect was taken today in a meeting of the state education minister Mr. Jagarnath Mahato and the principals of private schools. Despite appeals from the government and the minister himself, the private schools did not show any willingness to waive off tuition fee for the lockdown period.

The state education minister later said that a case relating to this matter is also being heard by the Supreme Court and any decision would only be taken after the apex court gives its verdict.

For the next two months, he said, the private schools would not collect any other fee or charges apart from the tuition fee.
