JAMSHEDPUR – The holy month of Shravan has been a period of spirituality and unity for the city of Jamshedpur, with the faithful gathering in large numbers to participate in sacred rituals.

This week, the second Monday of Shravan, was marked with particular fervour.

Shravan, known in Hindu mythology as the month of Lord Shiva, is a time dedicated to strengthening spiritual bonds.

On this day, large crowds of devotees flocked to temples, riverbanks, and other sacred sites, presenting sincere prayers and carrying out a range of ceremonies.

Shiva temples in Jugsalai, Bistupur, and Sakchi were alive with the sounds and sights of devotion.

Rituals, including fasting, mantra chanting, and offering milk and water to Lord Shiva’s Shivling, were observed with utmost reverence.

Notably, the holy month of Shravan holds special importance for married women who observe the "Solah Somvar Vrat," fasting on sixteen Mondays for family well-being and marital bliss.

They donned colourful attire and beautiful jewels to honour the occasion, their devotion evident in their earnest performance of the ceremonies.

The festivities drew participants from all walks of life, reflecting the power of faith in bridging societal gaps.

Additionally, the holy month also inspired acts of charity, with many distributing food, clothes, and other essentials to the less fortunate.

As the month of Shravan progresses, the spirit of togetherness, humility, and devotion only seems to strengthen.

Residents eagerly anticipate the continuing festivities, eager to deepen their connection to the divine.
