Tanveer Akhtar, the accused in a love jihad case in Ranchi involving a young model, faces increased legal difficulties as his bail application is denied by the court.

RANCHI – Tanveer Akhtar, the director of Yash Modeling Agency and the accused in a high-profile ‘love jihad’ case in Ranchi, has had his bail plea rejected by the city’s Civil Court.

Akhtar has been accused of manipulating a young woman into a religious conversion under the pretext of a modeling contract.

His application for bail was heard and subsequently denied in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Mithilesh Kumar Singh.

Tanveer was apprehended on June 14 by the Ranchi Police in Araria, Bihar.

Subsequently, on June 8, the statement of the female model involved was recorded in court.

Alongside this, a medical examination of the young woman was conducted.

Akhtar’s application for bail was rejected after the court, led by Chief Judicial Magistrate Mithilesh Kumar Singh, heard from all involved parties.

The young woman had alleged that Akhtar had raped her during a modeling class and had physically assaulted her when she protested.

She also claimed that Akhtar had initially provided a false name, blackmailed her with explicit photographs, and later pressured her to convert her religion in order to marry him.

Exasperated by the relentless harassment, she filed a zero FIR against Akhtar on May 29, 2023, at the Versova police station in Mumbai.

Following this, the case was transferred to the Ranchi Police by their Mumbai counterparts.
