Four-day Pre-Puja Showcase Features 30-plus Stalls Run By Women Artisans

JAMSHEDPUR – Social worker Purabi Ghosh cut the ribbon to inaugurate a four-day exhibition on the first floor of Sakchi Bengal Club on Saturday. The event, organised under the aegis of the Kolkata-based women-run body “Enigma,” is being held as a pre-Puja showcase.
However, the exhibition is not a one-off event for the city. Elitra Sinha Mukherjee, who heads the organisation, said this was the sixteenth time Enigma had brought its showcase to Jamshedpur.
Meanwhile, Ghosh commended the initiative for providing women a platform to display their work. She urged women across Jamshedpur to turn out in large numbers over the four days.
“Enigma has consistently given women entrepreneurs a genuine platform to showcase their talent,” Ghosh said, addressing those gathered at the venue.
The exhibition will run from Saturday, September 5, through Tuesday, September 8. Visitors can access the stalls daily between 11 am and 9 pm.
Besides the inauguration, Mukherjee also spoke about the venue itself. She said Bengal Club’s first floor was giving women entrepreneurs the opportunity to display their skills to a wider audience.
Moreover, she said the exhibition was part of a broader push to encourage women toward self-reliance through such women-led stalls. The venture, according to organisers, aims to strengthen economic independence among women artisans.
More than 30 stalls at the exhibition have been set up by women entrepreneurs from Kolkata. Skilled artisans from the city have prepared much of the merchandise on display.
The stalls feature a ladies’ collection that includes sarees, kurtis and jewellery, alongside a separate men’s collection. In addition, several stalls are dedicated to handicrafts and home decor products.
On the other hand, city residents attending the exhibition can avail themselves of special discounts and offers. Organisers said this was intended to make the shopping experience more appealing for visitors.
The event is also being viewed as a wider cultural exercise for the city. It showcases the craftsmanship of Kolkata’s artisans while offering commercial opportunities to the participating women.
Similar showcases celebrating women’s achievements and craftsmanship have found space in art and culture circles in Jamshedpur in recent months, alongside events at the city’s women’s college and the women’s university. Meanwhile, the city’s expanding fine dining scene and platforms recognising women achievers continue to add to Jamshedpur’s growing calendar of women-centric events.
