Agreement Aligns Salary Structure With Code On Wages, 2019

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Motors Limited and the Tata Motors Workers Union have signed an agreement to restructure the wage system for employees at the Jamshedpur plant. The pact aligns pay structures with the principles of the Code on Wages, 2019.
Plant Head Anurag Chharia and HR Head Pranav Kumar represented the management side at the signing. ER Head Saumik Roy was also present on behalf of the company.
Union president Shashi Bhushan Prasad and General Secretary R. K. Singh represented the workers union. Both sides signed the agreement during discussions at the plant.
The agreement reflects a joint commitment by the union and management toward a transparent pay structure. Officials said the restructured system would also comply fully with regulatory requirements.
The new structure is intended to be equitable and sustainable for the long term. It aims to protect employees’ legitimate interests while strengthening the company’s competitiveness, according to the agreement.
Implementation of the wage restructuring is expected to take about three months. Its effects will become visible in employees’ salary slips once complete.
However, the union said the transition would not adversely affect workers’ overall pay. Officials reiterated that assurance during discussions with plant management.
Meanwhile, the union praised what it described as a constructive and positive approach adopted by management during negotiations. It said such important issues need to be resolved through mutual dialogue.
In addition, both sides acknowledged the importance of continued discussion on similar matters going forward. The agreement was reached following a series of talks between union representatives and plant leadership.
On the other hand, no further wage-related announcements were made at the time of the signing. Tata Motors has periodically announced operational changes at its Jamshedpur facility in recent months.
