Accused Wanted Since 2009 Nabbed After Tip-Off on His Location

SERAIKELA – The Seraikela-Kharsawan police have achieved a major success in their ongoing drive against absconding warrantees. A permanent warrantee, who had been on the run for nearly 17 years in connection with a loot case, was arrested on Wednesday.
The accused was identified as Raju Lohar, son of Ganga Lohar, a resident of Sini under Rajnagar police station. He had reportedly been absconding since 2009 and had evaded police for around 17 years.
According to police, a case related to loot was registered against Lohar in the Rajnagar police station area. He was also wanted in a separate case registered at Chaibasa Mufassil police station.
Police had been making continuous efforts to arrest him because of his prolonged evasion. However, the breakthrough came after officers received secret information regarding the accused’s whereabouts.
The police team verified the information and then carried out a raid after devising a strategy. Officers succeeded in arresting Lohar during the operation. Following the arrest, police completed the necessary legal procedure and sent the accused to judicial custody.
The arrest of the long-absconding warrantee is being viewed as a result of effective warrant execution and improved policing by the Seraikela police. Officers said the message from the arrest is clear: those who evade the law and remain absconding for long periods will eventually be traced.
Police in the district have carried out similar warrant-execution and arrest drives in the past. In 2022, officers had arrested three people with brown sugar in the Rajnagar area. Meanwhile, a separate murder case in the same police station area had also been cracked by Rajnagar police, resulting in one arrest.
Besides Rajnagar, police in the wider Kolhan region have also acted against long-wanted accused in other cases. A PLFI area commander had earlier been arrested in Bandgaon, while a Congress leader was attacked in Chaibasa in a separate incident. Waterlogging and civic issues have also been reported from the Seraikela civil court premises in the past.
