SIDHGORA – A tense situation developed in the Sidhgora police station area of Jamshedpur late on Saturday night after a police action left a young man injured. Local residents surrounded a police vehicle and staged a protest, demanding action against the policeman involved.

Additional police force had to be called to the spot as the situation worsened. According to information received, the Sidhgora police had reached the location after getting a complaint about a dispute between a husband and wife in a slum area.

The police were in the process of taking both parties to the station for questioning. During this process, a young man named Ravish Thakur, who was present at the scene, was allegedly pushed by a policeman while being made to sit in the vehicle.

Thakur fell on the road as a result of the push and suffered a serious head injury. A crowd of people from the surrounding area gathered at the spot soon after the incident and began protesting against the police action.

Local residents alleged that the policeman who pushed the youth was intoxicated at the time. They also claimed that force was being used against the young man unnecessarily during the process.

People expressed anger over the incident and demanded immediate action against the policeman found responsible. Sidhgora police station in-charge Faiz Akram reached the spot with his force after being informed of the incident.

He spoke to the people gathered there in an attempt to calm the situation. Akram assured residents that a fair investigation would be conducted and that appropriate action would be taken against the policeman if found guilty.

The situation returned to normal late at night following the assurance. Police are currently investigating the entire matter, officials said.

Sidhgora falls under the Jamshedpur urban police limits and has previously seen similar incidents involving disputes between residents and law enforcement during routine police action in the area.
