Family Had Moved into Rented House Just Four Days Earlier; BJP Leader Demands Swift Action

JAMSHEDPUR – A brazen daylight theft has been reported from Adarsh Nagar in the Ulidih police station area of Mango, Jamshedpur, where thieves made off with jewellery worth approximately Rs 10 lakh from a rented house.
The incident took place around 11 am when the resident, Anchal Rastogi, had stepped out to take his wife to a doctor. On returning home a few hours later, he noticed that the small lock on the outer door was open.
Upon entering, Rastogi found that the key to the almirah — which had been kept inside a bag — was missing. The almirah itself was found open. On checking its contents, he discovered that jewellery worth around Rs 10 lakh had been stolen.
What made the incident more distressing was the timing. Rastogi said he had moved into the rented house merely four days before the theft. The entire family has been left in shock by the swift and targeted nature of the crime.
The matter was immediately reported to Ulidih police station. However, Rastogi was dissatisfied with the initial police response. He then informed former BJP leader Vikas Singh about the theft.
On receiving the information, Vikas Singh reached the spot promptly. He spoke with the local police station in-charge over phone. Singh demanded that the case be cracked quickly and the stolen goods recovered at the earliest.
The daylight theft has triggered fear among residents of Adarsh Nagar and surrounding areas. Locals are demanding that police increase patrolling in the area in view of the rising number of theft incidents.
A local resident said, “Thieves are becoming increasingly bold. They struck in broad daylight while the family was away for just a few hours.”
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and are said to be investigating the matter. The identity of the thieves and how they managed to access the locked house remain under probe.
