Illegal Construction Resumes in Baliguma After Building Seal Broken

Villagers Protest Encroachment and Demand Action From Mango Municipality

Key Points:

  • Sealed illegal building reopened for fresh construction in Baliguma
  • Villagers fear collapse and danger from water flow near Dimna stream
  • Encroachment halts bridge project linking Baliguma directly to Dimna

JAMSHEDPUR – Residents of Baliguma have expressed anger after an illegal building, sealed earlier by officials, was reopened and construction resumed on government land.

Officials had sealed the house built near the Dimna stream at Sukhna Basti. However, the seal was later broken and the construction started again. Villagers said this has created a serious safety hazard.

Moreover, locals highlighted that water released from Dimna Dam enters such houses. This causes soil erosion and threatens collapse. Despite this, repair work and occupation continue at the site.

The Mango Nagar Nigam and Anchal office jointly confirmed that the land is state-owned. They also registered BPLE and JPLE cases against the illegal construction. Still, the builder resumed work after breaking the seal.

Meanwhile, villagers remain concerned about an incomplete bridge that was supposed to connect Baliguma directly to Dimna. Officials completed three piers, but construction stopped because of the illegal house built at the fourth pier’s location.

Because of this, thousands of people are forced to take long detours daily. Schoolchildren, workers, and elderly residents face severe hardships. During monsoon, the problem becomes even worse.

Villagers demanded immediate removal of the encroachment and resumption of bridge work. “This situation is dangerous and must be resolved,” a resident said. They have urged the district administration and Mango Nagar Nigam to act quickly.
