TSAF Climbers Dominate Junior Speed Finals at East Zone 2025

All Junior Speed Winners From TSAF Academy on Opening Day

JAMSHEDPUR – The 29th East Zone Sport Climbing Championship 2025 began at JRD Tata Sports Complex with a strong performance by TSAF climbers in the junior speed finals.

The event, hosted by Tata Steel Adventure Foundation Sport Climbing Academy, drew 125 participants from four states. However, all podium finishes in the junior speed category went to Jamshedpur’s TSAF academy.

In junior boys, Bhoj Birua claimed first place, followed by Rajesh Honhaga in second and Sudharshan Murmu in third. On the other hand, junior girls saw Savitri Samad secure the top spot, with Laxmi Tamang taking second and Basanti Murmu finishing third.

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony took place at 5 p.m. Hemant Gupta, head of TSAF and Sports Academies, attended as chief guest. Special guests included Debdas Dutta, advisor for mountaineering with the West Bengal government, Rajiv Kumar Gupta of I3 Foundation, Roshan Jha from GST, and Debraj Dutta, chairman of IMF East Zone.

The championship is scheduled to run four days, featuring lead, speed, and boulder disciplines.

Day 2 will start early with multiple categories. Key events include:

  • 7:00 a.m.: Boulder women’s qualification
  • 7:00 a.m.: Lead sub junior boys qualification (iso start 6:00 a.m., iso close 6:30 a.m.)
  • 7:00 a.m.: Lead men’s qualification (iso start 6:00 a.m., iso close 6:30 a.m.)
  • 7:00 a.m.: Speed junior boys qualification
  • 7:00 a.m.: Speed junior girls qualification
  • 10:00 a.m.: Boulder sub junior girls qualification
  • 10:00 a.m.: Speed junior boys final
  • 10:00 a.m.: Speed junior girls final
  • 2:30 p.m.: Boulder men’s qualification
  • 3:00 p.m.: Boulder sub junior boys qualification
  • 3:00 p.m.: Lead sub junior girls qualification (iso start 2:00 p.m., iso close 2:30 p.m.)
  • 3:00 p.m.: Lead women’s qualification (iso start 2:00 p.m., iso close 2:30 p.m.)
  • 7:00 p.m.: Lead junior boys qualification (iso start 6:00 p.m., iso close 6:30 p.m.)
  • 7:00 p.m.: Lead junior girls qualification (iso start 6:00 p.m., iso close 6:30 p.m.)
