DIG takes serious view of Sonari shootout, seeks details of probe

Jamshedpur: The internecine gang war and open exchange of gunfire on Friday in Kagalnagar area of Sonari has alarmed the entire police machinery. The DIG of Kolhan Rajiv Ranjan Singh has taken a serious view of the gang-war and the firing and is now guiding the probe himself.

On Saturday he himself went to the site of occurrence and sought to know the facts related to the case. He said that very soon the criminals involved in this shootout will be arrested.

However, the police have registered an FIR against both the gangs involved in the shootout.

Along with this, raids have also been started to nab the criminals. If police sources are to be believed, there have been some arrests from both the groups. However, for now, the police have not confirmed any arrests yet.

As per police sources, a few criminals riding a Bolero car near Kagalnagar Road No. 5 under the jurisdiction of Sonari Police Station fired at a history-sheeter Sonu alias Sial, who was moving on bike.

In order to save his life, Sonu entered a JMM leader’s house. However, Sonu could not save himself from the bullets of the criminals. The bullet pierced his back. He is undergoing treatment in hospital

Police feel that the gang of notorious criminal Ravidas may have had a hand in the incident. It is worth mentioning that for the last 2 days several incidents of firing, robbery, loot and stabbings have been reported from different areas of the city.
