PMLA Court Delays Verdict on Former Jharkhand CM’s Bail Petition

PMLA Court Delays Verdict on Former Jharkhand CM’s Bail Petition

Court Reserves Decision in Land Scam Case Involving Hemant Soren, Delays Bail Decision

In a notable legal development, the PMLA special court has postponed its decision on the bail application connected to the land scam case involving former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The court’s judgment follows a one-hour session where it listened to submissions from both sides, yet a date for the verdict remains undecided.

RANCHI – In a significant legal proceeding, the PMLA special court has deferred its ruling on the bail plea related to the land fraud case implicating former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

The PMLA court, after a recent hearing, has put off its judgment in the ongoing land scam case, which saw the former Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, under scrutiny.

This hearing, which lasted approximately sixty minutes, culminated without a set date for the forthcoming verdict.

Previously, on April 23, the court had interrogated the Enforcement Directorate (ED) about certain aspects of the case, granting them a week to respond.

Subsequently, May 1 was scheduled for the next session.

The delay in Soren’s bail has been attributed to the ED’s strategies to hinder his release during the election period.

Currently, Soren, who also presides over the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, part of the India Alliance, remains incarcerated in Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Central Jail.

His inability to participate in the election campaign could reportedly play into the Central Government’s hands, a claim put forth in the legal filings.
