Action Follows Complaints Of Illegal Construction On Government Land

JAMSHEDPUR – The Mango circle office has issued notices to 10 people accused of illegally constructing on government land in Bhilaipahari mouza, even as the Dhalbhum sub-divisional administration carried out a separate encroachment removal drive in the area on Thursday.
Circle officer Brajesh Kumar Srivastava issued the notice directing the accused to appear at his office along with land-related documents. The land in question, spread over 4.10 acres under khata number 293 and plot number 259 in Bhilaipahari mouza, is registered as unclassified government property under the Bihar government’s records.
According to the complaint, construction work is being carried out on the land by Bimal Chandra Das, Bablu Bagti, Arun Ghosh, Ashok Patra, Tapan Patra, Hiran Yadav, Nityanand Pramanik, Somnath Mandal, Ashish Mandal and Ratan Chalak. The notice, issued on August 27, had asked all ten to appear at 11:30 am on September 5 with the necessary documents.
None of them has responded or appeared before the circle office so far, officials said. The notice was issued after complaints alleged encroachment on the government plot.
Meanwhile, in a separate action, the district administration removed encroachment from government land in Mango’s Ward 9 on Thursday. The drive was carried out on the instructions of the Dhalbhum sub-divisional administration.
The encroached land, under khata number 908 and plot number 3033 in Mango mouza, falls within the area now under the municipal corporation. Officials said 0.50 decimal of the plot had been encroached under the name of Pushpa Tirkey, while 3.50 decimal of the same khata-plot had been encroached under the name of Monika Tirkey.
The two cases were registered as 12/2022-23 and 14/2022-23, respectively. The removal action had earlier been postponed due to the unavailability of police personnel.
Following the delay, the Dhalbhum sub-divisional administration deputed a magistrate for both cases and directed that the encroachment be cleared in the presence of police forces. The action was completed on Thursday in line with those instructions.
The sub-divisional administration had also directed Mango circle officer Brajesh Srivastava to ensure necessary cooperation through the circle inspector. The Mango police station in-charge was asked to remain present at the site with police officials, armed forces, baton force and women police personnel to maintain peace and law and order.
The administration’s order also clarified that, in case of any existing court order concerning the land, action would only be taken after examining it in accordance with the law. Officials have been directed to submit a compliance report to the sub-divisional administration following the drive.
The developments come amid continuing scrutiny of government land use in Jamshedpur, where similar encroachment complaints have surfaced in recent months across the district’s notified areas.
