Right Man, Right Post for Ram Temple Trust

Right Man, Right Post for Ram Temple Trust

Mishra’s Appointment as CEO Is a Chance to Restore Trust

Key Points

  • Air Marshal Mishra Named First CEO of Ram Temple Trust
  • Appointment Comes After Damaging Donation Mismanagement Scandal
  • New CEO Must Blend Professionalism With Seva Bhav

Editorial

The Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust seems to have made the right choice at a crucial juncture. Handing the reins to Air Marshal (Retd) Jitendra Mishra as its first CEO is a decision worth welcoming by everyone.

This appointment matters because of what preceded it. A troubling episode of financial mismanagement involving trust donations had dented the institution’s credibility.

However, the Trust deserves credit for treating this as a wake-up call rather than a footnote. Choosing Mishra from a pool of over 5,000 candidates suggests the selection process was taken seriously.

Moreover, his background offers real reassurance. Nearly 39 years in the Air Force, including command during Operation Sindoor, points to discipline and accountability.

Those are precisely the qualities the Trust’s finances have lacked. Military leadership does not automatically translate into temple administration, but the instinct for order and rigour does.

That said, competence alone will not be enough. The new CEO must ensure the culprits behind the donation scam are pursued and punished, not quietly forgotten.

Besides financial cleanup, he must run the Trust with genuine seva bhav. This is, after all, an institution serving the faith of millions, not merely a corporate body.

On the other hand, the stakes extend well beyond Ayodhya. The global Hindu community will be watching whether this leadership sets a model other temple trusts can replicate.

In addition, the elevation of Swami Govind Dev Giri as General Secretary and the induction of three new trustees signal a broader institutional reset. That, too, is encouraging.

Ultimately, the Trust has given itself a genuine opportunity to turn the page. Whether it seizes that opportunity will depend on what Mishra does next, not on the announcement itself.
