PARSUDIH – A class 12 student at Shyama Prasad Inter College in Parsudih brought a country-made pistol and a live cartridge into his classroom, and college authorities have expelled three students after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The incident took place on June 19, 2026. A science-stream student showed the weapon and cartridge to his classmates inside the classroom. Another student present in the class recorded a short clip of the moment, and the footage later spread widely on social media.
College administrators initially denied any such incident had occurred when questioned after the video surfaced online. However, the principal and teachers reviewed the footage and identified the students shown in it as members of the same college’s class 12 science section.
The principal then questioned the student found with the weapon. The student admitted he had brought the firearm to assert dominance after a recent dispute and a physical altercation among students. He told the principal that an acquaintance from his locality had supplied him with the weapon.
Principal S.C. Mahto said an inquiry confirmed the video was authentic. He said all three students seen in the footage belonged to the college’s class 12 science batch. Mahto said the college had begun the process of expelling all three students once the sequence of events had been verified.
The principal added that the college administration considered such incidents inside an educational institution extremely serious. He said the administration would enforce stricter rules to prevent any recurrence. Mahto said student monitoring and discipline systems on campus would also be strengthened.
The incident adds to a string of country-made pistol and cartridge seizures reported across Bistupur, Kadma and other parts of Jamshedpur in recent months, including arrests near Parvati Ghat in Bistupur and a firing case resolved in Kadma earlier this month. Possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition is a punishable offense under the Arms Act in India.
