Goilkera: Taekwondo instructor Basudev Lakra (44), resident of Birsa Toli under Goilkera block of West Singhbhum district, died during treatment on Sunday morning. After suffering brain hemorrhage, he was admitted to RIMS in Ranchi for better treatment two days ago, where he breathed his last.
As soon as the news of his demise was received, a wave of mourning ran in the area. Local MLA Jagat Majhi reached his residence in Goilkera and paid tribute by offering flowers on the mortal remains. During this time, he met the bereaved family members and consoled them and assured them of all possible support.
Expressing deep grief, MLA Jagat Majhi said that Basudev was a talented and energetic youth of Lakra area. His untimely demise is an irreparable loss not only for the region but also for the sports world. He prayed to God to grant peace to the departed soul and grant strength to the family to bear this loss.
Basudev Lakra was actively associated with sports activities and was working to advance young players by training them in Taekwondo. As the secretary of Birsa Sporting Club, he also played an important role in various sports and social events.
Those who paid tribute included Goilkera block chief Nirumani Kodah, Zilla Parishad member Jyoti Meral, JMM leader Navami Oraon, chief Dinesh Chandra Boypai, Panchayat Samiti member Bani Sinha, Chakradharpur taekwondo coach Anurag Sharma, JMM district vice president Akbar Khan, Kishore Khalkho and a large number of local people. Everyone paid heartfelt tribute to late Basudev Lakra.
