150 Artists to Perform in Tribute to Late Classical Musicians

KOLKATA – A two-day Kathak dance festival titled “NAMAN” will be held at Gyan Manch in Kolkata on January 31 and February 1, 2026, featuring 150 artists from across India.
Renowned Kathak artist Subir Thakur will provide artistic guidance. Director Nitisha Banerjee of the prestigious Kathak dance school “Naad” is organizing the event. However, patron Prashant Banerjee is also involved in the festival’s coordination.
The festival pays tribute to three late classical musicians. These include vocalist Pratip Banerjee and vocalist Biswajit Ghosh. Moreover, sarangi maestro Bijay Mishra will be honored.
Performances will run from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM daily. The program showcases solo, duet, trio, and group presentations. In addition, the event highlights traditional and contemporary Kathak expressions.
Artists from Siliguri include Sahelee Bose, Sangita Chaki, and Nitisha Banerjee. Kolkata participants feature Kushal Bhattacharjee, Sushmita Banerjee, and Ramaprasad Chattopadhyay. Furthermore, Sandip Mallick, Sayanee Chavda, and Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee will perform.
Additional Kolkata dancers include Madhumita Roy, Alokparna Guha, and Keya Chanda. The roster also features Anurekha Ghosh, Nandini Chakraborty, and Sourav Roy. Besides, Souvik Chakraborty, Dr. Debashmita Mukherjee, and Ujjayeeni Chattopadhyay will participate.
Sushmita Chatterjee, Trina Roy, and Rajib Ghosh are confirmed performers. Manab Parai, Debangshu Mondol, and Sandip Sarkar will also dance. On the other hand, Bipasha Sen and Nirmalya Sharma complete the Kolkata contingent.
Nabarup Bhattacharjee and Bapi Dey represent Agartala. Dheerendra Tiwari will perform from NDA in New Delhi. Meanwhile, Rupesh Gupta arrives from Patna.
Accompanying musicians include tabla maestro Subir Thakur. Biswajeet Pal and Siddhartha Bhattacharjee will provide support. Moreover, Amitangshu Brahma and Chandrachur Bhattacharya will perform.
The musical ensemble features Sandeep Neogi and Sunando Mukherjee. Umesh Mishra and Kamalesh Mishra will accompany on traditional instruments. In addition, Subhasis Bhattacharya, Arindam Bhattacharya, Jaydeep Sinha, and Sourav Chakraborty will participate.
Soumen Chakraborty, one of India’s respected lighting designers, will handle technical aspects. Sound management falls to Soumitra Dash. However, both ensure a seamless audience experience.
California Television Global serves as international media associate. The broadcast will reach 15 countries. Furthermore, global audiences will witness Kathak performances.
Entry to the festival remains free for all visitors. Students, art enthusiasts, and general public can attend. Besides, the event welcomes audiences of all ages.
