Lakhs in Cash and Jewelry Stolen From Locked House in Broad Daylight

JAMSHEDPUR – A major daylight burglary was reported in a locked house in Kadma, with thieves escaping with jewelry and cash valued in lakhs.
Basu, a resident of Road No. 5 in the Kadma area, discovered the theft after returning home late morning. He had gone to meet a relative in Ramnagar around 11 a.m. However, he found the main lock snapped on arrival. Inside, four more locks had been forced open.
However, the intruders also broke open both almirah lockers. They removed valuables kept after a recent family wedding. Moreover, gold, silver and cash were taken. A list later showed losses between ₹10 lakh and ₹15 lakh.
In addition, the house was empty as other family members had stepped out earlier. Meanwhile, the thieves exploited the vacant hours. A resident said, “They appeared to know the routine.”
Police reached the scene soon after the report. Officers examined rooms and assessed the damage. On the other hand, early findings suggested prior recce by the gang. Police teams are scanning CCTV footage from nearby points. They are also talking to locals for clues.
In earlier incidents, police had investigated cases like the Kadma jewelry theft and the Manisha Pandey theft. Besides, gangs involved in auto theft and mobile theft were arrested. Another burglary was reported last year in a Kadma flat.
