Police Recover Pistol Used in Shastri Nagar Killing

Key Points:

  • Ayan held for killing Tauqeer in Shastri Nagar Block 2
  • Police seize pistol and six fired shells
  • Old dispute cited as motive behind the assault

JAMSHEDPUR – Police have arrested Masood Iqbal, also known as Ayan, for the killing of Mohammad Tauqeer in Shastri Nagar Block Number 2 under the Kadma area.

Investigators said Ayan pointed out the place where he had hidden a country-made pistol. Moreover, officers recovered six empty shells from the crime scene.
On the other hand, the City SP stated during the press briefing that the two men had a long-standing dispute.

Officials explained that in September Tauqeer had allegedly attacked Ayan with a sharp weapon. Moreover, police said this earlier clash appeared to be the key motive behind the killing.
Investigators added that the accused and others reached the site in a car before the assault.

Ayan reportedly fired six rounds at Tauqeer. Besides, he also used a sharp-edged weapon during the attack, according to the police briefing.
The group fled soon after the assault, while Ayan was later arrested near his residence.

Police noted that Tauqeer himself faced several past cases, including charges linked to murder and extortion. Moreover, three cases had been registered against him this year.
Ayan has been sent to jail, while raids continue to trace the remaining accused.

Similar incidents have occurred in the wider locality earlier, such as the Kadma arrest and the case where six were named in an FIR.
Additionally, reports of five arrests and another recent update underline the frequency of such crimes in the area.
