Key Points:

  • Ghatshila records 74% voter turnout by 5 PM in by-election
  • Marandi criticizes JMM workers for intimidation attempts during polling

RANCHI – Jharkhand BJP State President Babulal Marandi expressed confidence in NDA candidate’s victory in Ghatshila by-election, citing high voter turnout as anti-government sentiment indicator.

Marandi addressed a press conference at the state office in Ranchi. He stated that the NDA candidate is heading towards a major win. The BJP leader thanked the Election Commission for peaceful polling.

Polling and Voter Turnout

The Ghatshila constituency recorded approximately 74% voting by 5 PM. However, the percentage is expected to rise further. Marandi noted that JMM considered this seat safe earlier.

The Leader of Opposition highlighted increased voter participation this time. He said the numbers indicate public disillusionment with the Hemant government. Moreover, voters have rejected false promises made by the ruling dispensation.

Allegations Against JMM Workers

Marandi accused JMM workers of intimidation tactics during early voting hours. He claimed they attempted to threaten and frighten voters initially. Nevertheless, alert BJP workers ensured smooth polling alongside election officials.

The BJP state chief praised party activists for their vigilance. On the other hand, he criticized opposition attempts to disrupt the democratic process. The Election Commission’s supervision prevented any untoward incidents, he added.

Delhi Terror Attack Reference

Marandi also commented on the recent bomb blast in Delhi. He stated that terrorists are frustrated due to Modi government’s zero-tolerance policy. In addition, he mentioned Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed’s arrest from Ranchi in August 2024.

The doctor was allegedly linked to Al-Qaeda operations. Furthermore, several Jharkhand cities have witnessed terror connections previously. Marandi criticized the state government for remaining silent on security matters.

Bihar Assembly Elections

The BJP leader expressed confidence in NDA’s performance in Bihar elections as well. He said bumper voting indicates people’s trust in NDA governance. Besides, the turnout appears higher than the first phase polling.

Marandi predicted a landslide victory for NDA in Bihar. He thanked voters in both states for participating enthusiastically. The election results will reflect people’s aspirations, he concluded.

The Ghatshila by-election became necessary after the previous MLA’s resignation. Counting of votes will determine the final outcome shortly. Both BJP and JMM have campaigned extensively for this crucial seat.
