Traffic Chaos at Parsudih Rail Gate Prompts Demand for Overbridge

Residents Seek DRM Intervention to Ease Daily Gridlock Near Golpahari

Key Points:

  • Heavy traffic jams daily at Golpahari-Parsudih rail crossing
  • Memorandum submitted to DRM Chakradharpur via Tata Area Manager
  • Civic body urges construction of road overbridge for relief

JAMSHEDPUR – Residents of Parsudih have raised serious concerns over persistent traffic snarls at the Golpahari rail crossing, urging railway authorities to build an overbridge to resolve the chaos.

The Jan Jagriti Vikas Manch submitted a memorandum on October 22, 2025, to the Divisional Railway Manager, Chakradharpur. The appeal was routed through the Area Manager of Tatanagar.

According to the memorandum, only two trains earlier ran on this route daily. However, nearly ten goods and passenger trains now pass through the Golpahari–Makadampur line each day. As a result, the rail gate near Badam Pahad remains closed frequently, causing severe jams.

Commuters, including factory workers, school students, and emergency vehicles, often remain stranded for long hours. Moreover, ambulances get stuck for extended periods, risking patients’ lives. The situation worsens during school hours when children are trapped under scorching heat amid long queues of vehicles.

“Every day, the crossing gets blocked multiple times, creating chaos for thousands,” said a local resident associated with the forum.

The forum informed the DRM that the area around Parsudih is densely populated, making the rail crossing a critical bottleneck. It proposed two possible routes for an overbridge to ease congestion:

  1. From beside Golpahari United Company, passing Munshi Mohalla Library, connecting to the main Parsudih road.
  2. From near Kali Mandir, alongside the Market Committee wall and Gwala Basti, joining the main road near Sen Nursery.

Members claimed sufficient railway land was available near both routes. They requested that the overbridge be approved and constructed soon in the interest of public convenience.

Among those present during the submission were Janardan Pandey, Bhim Yadav, Kanhaiya Pandey, Vijay Singh Yadav, Ashok Pandey, Mahesh Singh, Manoj Sharma, Nandlal Sharma, Jwala Singh, and Gopal Tiwari. Discussions with railway officials were said to be positive and constructive.
