JAMSHEDPUR – The Election Commission of India has announced the by-election for the 45-Ghatshila (ST) Assembly constituency. The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is now in effect following the announcement.

Poll Schedule Released

District Election Officer Karn Satyarthi and Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey briefed the media at the Collectorate Hall.

Administrative Preparations

According to Satyarthi, all arrangements will ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling.

Moreover, 15 election-related cells have been formed, including:

  • Electoral Roll & Communication Plan
  • Personnel and Training Cells
  • EVM and SVEEP Units
  • Expenditure and Material Cells
  • Law & Order and MCC Monitoring
  • Control Room, Media & MCMC
  • PwD and Voter HelpLine

Besides, all nodal officers have been instructed on their duties and responsibilities.

Nomination and Voter Information

Satyarthi confirmed that the Sub-Divisional Officer of Ghatshila, Sunil Chandra, will serve as Returning Officer.

In addition, the Circle Officers of Dhalbhumgarh and Ghatshila, and the BDO Ghatshila, will act as Assistant Returning Officers. Nomination filing will take place at the SDO office in Ghatshila.

Voters may apply for inclusion in the electoral roll up to ten days before the nomination deadline.

Law and Order Measures

SSP Piyush Pandey assured comprehensive security during the poll period. He said, “Critical booths will have extra police deployment.”

To prevent voter influence, 16 checkpoints will be set up — 10 inter-state, 5 inter-district, and 1 in the urban area.

Furthermore, campaigns to arrest absconding offenders and seize licensed arms will continue. Strict checks will target illegal cash, liquor, drugs, and other contraband.
