National Lok Adalat Settles 2.7 Lakh Cases in Jamshedpur

Lok Adalat collects ₹225 crore, opens legal aid clinic for soldiers

JAMSHEDPUR – A National Lok Adalat at Jamshedpur District Court resolved a massive number of pending and pre-litigation cases while also setting a new revenue record. At the same time, a dedicated legal aid clinic was launched to support soldiers, veterans, and their families.

Case Settlements and Revenue

The National Lok Adalat successfully disposed of 2,61,471 pre-litigation cases and 11,611 court cases. However, the settlements also led to a revenue generation of ₹225,13,01,44, which officials confirmed as a record figure for the district court.

Virtual Launch by Jharkhand High Court

The Lok Adalat was inaugurated virtually from Ranchi. Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan of Jharkhand High Court led the program, while Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad also addressed the event. Moreover, other judges of the High Court joined through video conferencing to mark the occasion.

Legal Aid Initiative for Soldiers

During the proceedings, a new legal aid clinic was introduced under NALSA’s Veer Pariwar Sahayata Yojana 2025. The initiative aims to provide assistance to defense personnel, ex-servicemen, and their dependents. In addition, instructions were issued that where Sainik Welfare Boards are absent, DLSA units will create special cells to deliver legal support.

Local Launch and Appointments

At Jamshedpur District Court, the legal aid clinic was formally inaugurated with a plaque unveiling by Principal District Judge Arvind Kumar Pandey and State Bar Council Vice Chairman Rajesh Kumar Shukla. Besides, ex-serviceman Dr. Kamal Kumar Shukla was appointed as a para-legal volunteer, while advocate Shriram Janam Singh was included as a panel lawyer to support the initiative.

Role of Judges and Advocates

Several judges and senior lawyers were present during the program. They emphasized that Lok Adalats are helping weaker sections of society access affordable justice. “Lok Adalats are bridging the gap between the people and the justice system,” said one speaker. Another highlighted that earlier myths about the high cost of justice are now disappearing.

12 Benches Formed in Jamshedpur

The National Lok Adalat in Jamshedpur was conducted through 12 benches. Court staff, DLSA teams, and para-legal volunteers ensured the event ran smoothly. In addition, DLSA secretary Dharmendra Kumar delivered the vote of thanks and praised the joint effort of all staff for the successful organization.
