Three-Day Event Showcases Legends and Young Talent in Historic Setting

KOLKATA – For the first time in 73 years, the Dover Lane Music Conference hosted a classical music festival at Sobhabazar Rajbari in North Kolkata from September 5 to 7, 2025.
The event was inaugurated by Minister Dr. Shashi Panja, councillor Subrata Banerjee, and Russian Consul General Maxim Kozlov. Organizers described North Kolkata as the cultural cradle of Bengal’s classical music.
On the first evening, Mehuli Bhattacharya performed Bharatanatyam pieces dedicated to Mahadev and Ardhanarishvara. Souparno Ghosh presented Raag Puriya Dhanashree and a Thumri in Mishra Pahadi, accompanied by tabla winner Suman Sarkar. Later, Jui Dhaygude Pandey sang Raag Kedar and a Meera Bhajan with Pt. Samar Saha and Pradip Palit.
The second evening featured Sagnik Sen of Patiala Gharana with Raag Shuddha Kalyan and Kajri in Mishra Pilu. Susnigdha Chakraborty performed Odissi based on Geet Govind. Rakhi Chatterjee rendered Raag Nand, while Siraj Ali Khan concluded with Raag Chandranandan in Maihar Gharana style, joined by Rupak Bhattacharya on tabla.
The third evening opened with Sanchali Chatterjee’s Raag Puriya Dhanashree and Kabir Bhajan. Titisha Ghosh presented Kathak in Bhairavi and Dhamar taal. Maitrayee Roy, a Dover Lane Talent Search winner, impressed with Raag Behag, Jhaptaal and Teentaal compositions, and Kabir’s Fakiri Bhajan. The finale saw Kedia Bandhu perform a sitar–sarod jugalbandi in Raag Jhinjhoti and Sindhu Bhairavi, supported by Pt. Parimal Chakraborty on tabla.
