JAMSHEDPUR – A settlement was reached on the third day of talks following the death of UCIL contract worker Jayram Hansda, 47, at Turamdih Mines in Sundernagar.

During the tripartite meeting, it was agreed that his wife, Somwari Hansda, would be offered a permanent job. UCIL officials also promised appropriate compensation to the family. All required procedures would be completed within three months.

Meanwhile, the intervention of late education minister’s son Somesh Soren and Potka MLA Sanjiv Sardar proved crucial in facilitating the discussions. Village head Kanhu Murmu also joined the meeting.

On the other hand, Somesh Soren assured that no worker would face injustice and stressed that justice would be ensured in such cases. Following the agreement, operations at UCIL resumed with the B shift.
